What NOT to Wear 🤡

Inspired by the early 00's tv show What Not To Wear, today's blog post is going to reveal current trends that I, personally, am not getting down with.

Note: this is not to say you shouldn't wear these items, you wear whatever tf you want. You just won't catch me wearing these:

BARREL CUT JEANS/PANTS

Barrel cut jeans/pants are simply not it. I will say, however, there is a scale for how dramatic the cut is. Less-apparent cuts are OKAY and they CAN be cute but it's a fiiiine line, my friend!

“HOT PANTS”

Even when Kristen Stewart stepped out in teensy hot pants for her press tour for Love, Lies, Bleeding (pictured below), I was skeptical. It just gives either straight up underwear or slightly shorts-esque underwear. Also, you'll find that hot pants are almost exclusively shown on small bodies…

OVERSIZE HANDBAGS

I like some big purses, no doubt. But some of these oversize handbags are like “girl are you taking the purse to get coffee or use as a grocery bag at Aldi?"

BALLOON SLEEVES

Similar to the barrel jeans, there is a scale with puffy/balloon sleeves. Some are cute, some, like that $705 pink Jaquemus balloon sleeve button down pictured above, are NOT. CUTE.

HELLA RUFFLES

Ruffles have the finest of fine lines for me. There are select pieces/applications that work well. But once the threshold crosses that whisper of a line, it's a hard pass for me.

Alright, friend, what say you? Are there other trends you've noticed and are steering clear of the bandwagon? Orrrr maybe there are trends that're totally aligned with your style? Despite the topic of this newsletter, I'd say there are more good things going on in the trendy world than not, it's all how it's applied.

Finding your personal style should be fun, not stressful

If grabbing what’s clean on top of the laundry pile feels better than opening up your closet to put an outfit together, we should chat. There are steps to take to get your wardrobe to a place that you enjoy, both the pulling of items and the items themselves.
