How to Curate Your Style Using Pinterest
I’ve been obsessed with Pinterest for over 14 years and I’ll never not be talking about it lol. I used it as a reference throughout my whole home renovation project, on-site of photoshoots for posing/composition ideas, outfit ideas, etc.
So today I’m going to show you how to use it as a visual playground for pulling ~all of the things~ together and crafting your style hub.
Here’s how to use Pinterest intentionally to curate your personal style—across fashion, home, and everyday inspiration—plus some easy organization tips so your boards serve you. Let’s do it!
P.S. If you’ve never used Pinterest and are interested in what it’s all about, here’s the general breakdown of how it works.
Start with creating a few general boards
The more organized, the easier it is to find exactly what you're looking for later on. I have *so many* boards because I'm hella specific with categorizing. Here are some boards + sections to start with:
Style [section ideas: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Formal, Casual, Inspirational]
Home [section ideas: Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Outdoor, Furniture[
Recipes [section ideas: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks, Desserts]
Lifestyle [section ideas: Health, Travel, Quotes]
Pin to your heart’s desire
Dive in and go on a pinning-spree! You're essentially bookmarking, vision-boarding, and establishing your style with each pin. I just checked and I have 16.6k pins LOLOLOL.
Use the tools within the platform
Familiarize yourself with how the platform works. For example:
If you click on any pin, Pinterest curates similar types of pins below it.
You can make Private boards, meaning no one else can see it but you. Do with that what you will.
The more you pin, the more Pinterest can refine the types of content you see when you're on the Home feed, Explore page, etc.
You can create your own pins that link to specific sites, I use this tool to create shopping lists with links to specific items for my style clients!
Reference what you’ve created, IRL
Whether you're putting together your outfit for a date night, deciding on a paint color for your bedroom, or wanting to mix up dinner recipes, pull up what you've pinned to implement that good shit into your life!
Let it be intuitive. Let it be playful. Let it evolve. As you identify what speaks to you, slowly infuse it into your wardrobe, home, garden, kitchen, [fill in the blank]. The more you visually connect with what you're attracted to, the easier it is to live a life that reflects it.
If you want a starting point, have a look at my Pinterest and see if there's anything that sticks out for you. <3
